"O you who believe, fasting is prescribed upon you as it has been prescribed upon those before you, so you too can obtain taqwa." (2:183)
Thought One: Fasting is not only prescribed upon Muslims, but prescribed upon other religions aswell. For example, the Christian people used to Fast the same way as us but decided to move it to the winter times when it got into the summer times.
Thought Two: "Prescribed" means it is good for you. Fasting is so good for you that Allah doesn't explain it.
Thought Three: When you Fast, you obtain taqwa (piety). You get closer to Allah.
This ayah was about Fasting, and I thought that I should mention it.
PS: I'm going to add a Ramadan recipe soon. Sooner than you think.
